• Advise current students, prospective applicants and general public on all matters pertaining to AME master level programs i.e. admissions process, academic requirements and program learning outcomes/career options• Serve as primary academic advisor to approximately 400 master’s candidates within eight specific fields of study: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Development, Dynamics and Controls, Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics, Energy Conversion, and two dual degree programs in Aerospace Engineering/Engineering Management and Mechanical Engineering/Engineering Management• Adjudicate student conduct cases in relation to academic performance to determine dismissal decisions for all masters students• Partner with faculty to perform annual reviews of program curriculums, course sequencing and industry trends to ensure student retention and success rates • Cultivate a space of open dialogue to address and resolve issues directly affecting student success and engagement through strategic programming and events• Assist with admissions selection process working closely with staff of all levels to review application materials and evaluate student files • Liaison with various campus departments to resolve student grade, registration and petition-related matters

• Assist in the advisement of masters, undergraduate, and prospective Progressive Degree Program students on admission process, academic requirements, and degree progress.• Coordinate formal and informal departmental meetings and events.• Provide administrative support such as ordering textbooks and desk copies, arranging room reservations, responding to general admission inquiries, and providing customer service to students, faculty, and staff.• Utilize student data management systems such as SIS and Undergraduate Advisement database.• Attend monthly and bi-monthly meetings that enhance advising competency: Viterbi Graduate Advisors (VGRAD) and USC Council of Academic Advisors (CAA).

• Developed Individual Education Plans for youth offenders (ages 16-24) to identify long term educational goals such as postsecondary education, vocational training and/or training programs leading to industry accredited certifications• Coordinated and facilitated college tours, educational workshops, and workforce development trainings• Counseled youth on best-fit colleges based on background, interests, and strengths• Secured resources and referrals for supportive services including housing, physical and mental health, transportation, restorative justice, and employment• Facilitated monthly training meetings of Forward Thinking juvenile justice curriculum to ensure effective implementation

• Responsible for the advisement of high school seniors in the Compton Unified School District that included junior and senior year course planning, college planning based on student’s academic profile and career pursuits, and college application assistance • Established and built relationships with college admissions officers and other personnel • Served as liaison to and advocated for first-generation students and their parents
