With a doctorate in public health and years of experience in criminal justice system reform, my current work is to do my part in implementing change within our health and criminal legal systems at the local, state, and national levels. I am embracing the abolitionist's imagination rather than leaning on the hope of reform due to decades of reform attempts that have yet to translate into a fair and just criminal legal system. I bring to this work my own experience as a chronic trauma survivor. As of 2024, I am a certified Reiki Practitioner (level II) and can speak to the experience of applying Reiki as an adjunct to trauma therapy to support holistic healing. As an anti-racist, I press forward to do my part in eliminating institutional racism and other inherently privileged ways of thought and action that permeate our society and negatively affect People of Color.I am also an aspiring author with my first children's book set to be published in 2024.
