Ah yes, the sales page, as it were. It's such an interesting thing to toot one's own horn, to get out there and share what you're all about, but you can't just shout it. You must be eloquent, too. You must be humble, yet bold; audacious, yet unassuming; a champion of yourself and a champion of others; a salesperson, and a customer; lightly humorous, yet deeply serious because, well...it's the resolute world of careers and employment, and others being able to see that you offer some kind of value.I feel like a poem lurks in those words, a way to arrange them eloquently and humbly, but with wit and a slight knowing smile. I can even say I am an award-winning poet! But have I tooted my own horn much yet? I suppose not as much as a career-oriented platform dictates. You can see by my profile that I have had several interesting roles in the world. Take a look to see what I've been up to out there.I just love the new and the interesting. I love to learn and experience the next thing. I became co-host of a radio show on KAFM in Grand Junction called LIT Radio, where we explore all things language, books, poetry, storytelling, and literature. My co-host Wendy Videlock is a renowned poet and artist. I'm really enjoying it.I am currently the president of the Western Colorado Writers' Forum. This has been a deeply rewarding role. If I were to sum up my accomplishments in that role - again tooting my own horn with a vigorous energy - it would look like this: I reinvigorated this faltering non-profit from certain demise by • improving publicity efforts through social media, radio interviews, community events, and by connecting with other arts and culture organizations• creating a monthly robust newsletter that highlights our own and other writing-related community happenings• creating new events for the writing community and strengthening established events• overseeing a website redesign to improve SEO and functionality• writing, managing, and overseeing grants• establishing a yearly fundraiser• recruiting, rallying, supporting, and delegating to WCWF board members • handling countless behind-the-scenes tasks ranging from finances to graphics design to website updates to email management, and more• lots of public speaking!• connecting with the writing community one person at a time, consistently and with enthusiasm, over three years• collaborating with other arts and culture organizations to help grow that community in western ColoradoI would love to connect with you!
