Here at Venture Films we produce a 4WD travel program called LowRange. We travel to the remotest parts of Australia to film epic content with the latest 4K equipment, and then head back to civilisation to edit the footage and plan the next trip!In addition to this we also create high end commercial segments, TVCs as well as special interest mini series. My role was to research, produce and edit the Channel 10 show 'Pat Callinan's 4x4 Adventures'.I also produced and edited full length travel programs for DVD, as well as multi-platform branding videos for a wide range of companies.

Producing long form travel programs for 4WD Action.Managing production team inhouse and in the field.Working all over Australia has allowed me to visit some of the most spectacular and remote places in existance. 4WD Action is a 45 minute program that documents 4WD adventures all across the country. With one main presenter and a couple of co-presenters, camaraderie is paramount whilst vehicles are pushed to their limits to access these remote locations. There is a great deal of pre-production that goes into planning these trips, and having a strong network of contacts is vital.On location I manage and direct cast and crew. This includes managing logistics, coordinating shooting schedule, directing camera operators, working with presenters and can sometimes also include airing down tyres, making pancakes for the crew, or holding a reflector!As Producer I also direct the editor/s and occasionally get in on the editing myself. This includes writing an edit plan, reviewing the edit and requesting changes and writing voice overs. I was responsible for coordinating production of an 80 minute DVD every 3 weeks. This was an extremely fast paced role that required the highest degree of multi tasking which is something I thrive at. I loved this position and although it was often challenging I always looked forward to going into work.Tasks included:- liaising with advertising account managers to manage commercial bookings;- establishing good working relationships with clients and ensuring their expectations are met;- ensuring deadlines were met;- meeting with producers to discuss ideas and how these could be implemented;- working closely with many other departments within the company including web, legal, editorial, production etc- generating a shooting and editing schedule for the whole team;- working with travel producers to book flights, car hire, gear hire, accommodation etc for shoots;- coordinating all commercial and custom vehicle shoots and edits; - editing segments with FCP.
