Lead manufacturing engineer in the Coils production area in Boston Scientific Cork. Main responsibilities on a day to day level: - Daily monitoring of production scrap yield metrics to ensure the monthly targets are met. Work with other value stream engineers to ensure site-wide scrap targets are met.- Liaise with production and quality department members to aid day to day production.- Documentation: creating and updating current documents to reflect the current procedures.Completed Projects;- Updating a production line work step to remove a piece of equipment from production. Through this change, the line was allowed to flow through faster and more efficiently, and allowed the implementation of a second project which saved around 4 heads (approx. $300k annually). This project involved managing different stakeholders, multiple documentations and project planning to deliver each milestones in time. - Equipment Qualification of a new heat treatment equipment. Liaised with multiple external vendors, internal departments and responsible for frequent updates to all direct and indirect stakeholders. Responsible for all the required documentations. Successfully completed the project within the given timeline and delivering all project objectives in a timely manner. - Volunteered to own and lead a CAPA (Corrective Action and Preventative Action). This CAPA was initiated after an issue was raised on the line which lead to a QI (quality incident). Completed documentations such as SGOI updates, traditional narrative, created ATMV testing (Attribute test Method Validation). Successfully completed the project within the given timeline and delivering all project objectives in a timely manner. - Supported with a process/material project to update bill of material. This project will save approx. $1M + annually. I developed a prediction file using excel to get an approximate of the amount of platinum usage on the line based on past data.

I completed my college placement as an Intern Manufacturing Engineer in Boston Scientific Cork. I was placed in the Coils and Catheters production area in this manufacturing plant. I was directly involved in the area of the production of different type of surgical coils. As an intern the roles and responsibilities were:- Data collection and data analysing using Excel.- Problem solving using the fish bone method and problem solving strategy.- Team member of a VIP (Value Improvisation Process ) efficiency saving project. The project involved changing the inspection method at a station from variable to attribute. This project reduces the overall station time, increases product builder utilisation and accounts to a total savings of $28k- Team member of another VIP project which involved the automation a manual process of laminating a plastic coating on a corewire. The project increases production by 50% and reduces the overall process time by more than 60% of the original time. The project accounts to a total savings of $56k.Furthermore, prepared and presented to the VP of operations, finance and engineering directors in CERA meetings requesting funds for the above listed VIP projects.
