Foster-U is an organization dedicated to empowering foster youth to pursue higher education through community service, mentorship, and workshops, helping them build a pathway toward attending a 4-year institution.I founded the organization during my freshman year at Old Dominion University, with the vision of expanding it to universities nationwide.

• Created by the Virginia Department of Social Services and Project Life, SPEAKOUT is a Youth Advisory Board that serves as a liaison between youth in Foster Care and Virginia Legislature.• As President, I ensured that the board was prepared to advocate on the behalf of Virginia’s most vulnerable youth by promoting extensive training in policy work as well as advocacy.

• The 2020 FYI Program is a part-time virtual policy commitment via the CCAI Foster Youth Intern COVID-19 Pandemic Working Group. • This working group allowed the 2020 Foster Youth Interns to research, provide federal policy recommendations, and ultimately influence policymakers on ways to support foster youth and strengthen the child welfare system during and after the pandemic.

First-year Summer Institute (FSI) is a three-day intensive leadership program for incoming ODU students held during the summer (transfer students are welcome). FSI builds on the leadership skills of our new students and provides them with a jump-start to becoming acclimated to campus. The students engage with faculty, staff, and current student leaders.

• The All-Star program provided leadership and service opportunities to young people who have spent their formative years in foster care. • For young adults who have beaten the odds and thrived in spite of difficult circumstances, the All-Star internship is an opportunity to share your unique perspectives and resilient spirits with your peers. • In addition to participating in a large number of nationwide events for youth and child welfare professionals over the summer, the FosterClub All-Stars will facilitate trainings, advocate for system improvement and promote public awareness nationally throughout the year and teach other youth, adults and child welfare professionals in their states, youth boards and homes how to advocate for themselves and the youth in care.

The Young Adult Police Commission (YAPC) is a youth advisory board established in partnership with Richmond Public Schools and the Richmond Police Department. Created by the Chief of Police in 2010, its mission is to strengthen the relationship between the Richmond Police and the city's youth.YAPC meetings provide participants with opportunities to develop essential life skills, career-building tools, college readiness, social skills, and platforms for their peers to share their voices.
