Over the course of my professional life, I have developed strong communication and interpersonal skills, which have been key complements to the passion and commitment I bring to everything I do. These skills were evident in my role as a fundraiser for global charities like World Vision, PLAN and Oxfam, where I was consistent in acquiring long-term quality donors. In addition to helping to alleviate global poverty, I have experience working with children, families, and older adults of diverse cultures and backgrounds. Working with these individuals and families has opened my eyes to how individual everyone’s experience of systems can be, and has provided me an opportunity to offer support as appropriate. Furthermore, my recent internship with Proyecto Suri, Costa Rica exposed me to social service work within a global context and the interplay of region specific ideologies, structures, culture, and values on the outcomes of marginalized populations. Here, I was opportuned to enhance my community development competency, specifically as it relates to advancing gender equality and women empowerment. The roles in which I currently serve further underscore the importance of community, diversity, equity, and inclusion. I am encouraged to earnestly work toward a community where every individual is empowered to achieve the best possible outcome and I believe that my personal offering of passion, commitment, and excellence align satisfactorily to achieve these goals.
