About Stephen Menge, Mba, Cfe

After serving the public in the capacity of a law enforcement officer with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Office of the State Attorney, I retired after 28 years of service. Over 23 of those 28 years was specific to the area of fraud and white collar crime investigations. I've enjoyed every year of that service.On January 1, 2019 I opened my private investigative agency Menge Consulting & Investigative Services LLC. To continue to serve attorneys, CPA's, and the small business community. In addition to serving the business community, my agency assists a segment of society most vulnerable to fraud and is often under served. That segment is our elderly population. After criminally charging countless cases of exploitation of the elderly on those who have misappropriated assets, my agency will assist those seniors and family members with understanding what happened and offer answers to matters including probate, guardianship's and trusts. Through the analysis of information and applying an outside the box approach, solutions to any fraud can be found. Not every fraud is criminal and not every fraud is civil. However, ALL frauds have recourse. Which one is yours?

    In 2005 I was given the opportunity to work for the Office of the State Attorney. My primary duties are to investigate economic or public confidence crimes within the 10th Judicial Circuit. These types of crimes include schemes to defraud, money laundering, embezzlement, public corruption, elder crimes (exploitation), contractor and real estate fraud. I consistently consult on complex cases with prosecuting attorneys and assist them with case preparation and understanding. I routinely speak with local attorneys and opposing council on resolution of complaints. I am a liaison to local law enforcement and private citizens on cases brought to the State for review and/or direction. I further maintain a working relationship with these local agencies and often assume investigations originating with those respective agencies. In the time spent serving the 10th Circuit, I have criminally charged suspects who have collectively defrauded or stolen property valued at $16.5 million. As a result of those criminal charges, our office has recovered from or obtained judgments for restitution on those defendants that total nearly $8 million dollars.

    Began as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff and started full time service in 1991. I served in the capacity of a Community Oriented Policing Deputy and Investigator. Transitioned to Investigations in 1995 where I investigated persons, property, and auto theft crimes. I found my calling with the Fraud Unit where I managed a case load and investigated all aspects of fraud. These frauds typically dealt with schemes to defraud, identity theft, credit card fraud, bank fraud, and theft. The exposure of those types of cases and testimony before the Grand Jury on one of those cases led to the State Attorney offering me a position for employment.
