My name is Mercy Sackor and I am a Journalism and Mass Communications student with a concentration in Multimedia at North Carolina A&T State University. I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA to Liberian parents who instilled the fascinating and rich West African culture into me. Being a first generation American has shaped who I am as a person and has allowed me to have a well rounded view of the world.My love for creating started when I was young. From the time I was a small girl I enjoyed the art of music, dance and writing. A sense of exploration and curiosity always lingered within me and it led me to discover my passions. I have always found the art of storytelling compelling. My father read me books when I was little and the way he told the stories inspired me to want to tell my own.By the time I graduated high school and got to college, I found a love for journalism. The concept of discovering different communities and hearing their stories is something that sparked my interest. My goal in journalism is to highlight different cultures and the accomplishments of those who deserve a light shined on them. My goal in life as a whole is to spread light and joy to everyone I come across.
