In this position I coordinated, planned, and led an assessment trip for a team of 5 for a bridge construction project in Calcha, Bolivia. I was responsible for communicating and satisfying the appropriate travel documentation and planning with the NGO we were partnering with, Cornell University, and EWB-USA. While in Calcha, we collaborated as a team to collect technical and cultural data in the town of Calcha, including surveying a bridge site location and analyze soil samples for site analysis and selection. Lastly, I was the primary author of technical engineering reports based on collected technical and cultural data with the travel team

Explored the concepts of texture using electron backscatter scanning diffraction (EBSD) techniques through processing steps and simulation of various metals, including Molybdenum, Aluminum, and Magnesium. Preformed EBSD on Molybdenum and Aluminum samples using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Determined texture and grain shape/size/orientation in Molybdenum samples throughout processing steps. Analyzed stress-strain curves and deformation of an Aluminum alloy from compression tests at both high and low strain rates.

Charlottesville, Virginia Area

The effects of thermal and radiotherapy doses on cell survival were researched in order to develop a method of dose comparison. This involved running simulations in MATLAB to determine the delivered dose and modeling cell survival as a function of dose based on the literature and experimental results from essential tremor patients. An article was drafted on the results and is currently pending publication in the International Journal of Hyperthermia. Additionally, a poster on the results was presented at the International Focused Ultrasound Symposium in Oct. 2014.
