I am pleased to announce that I have joined the Chesapeake Research Consortium. I am working with the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Fostering Chesapeake Stewardship Goal Implementation Team (GIT5) as an Environmental Management Staffer. In this role, I will be working to achieve the Stewardship, Education, and Diversity workgroups' goals and outcomes, as guided by the 2014 Watershed Agreement.

I assisted the artist Lisa Schumaier ( keenthings.com ) with both producing and selling art at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. I assisted in the design, construction, and performance of a life-sized unicorn puppet for the Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk parade. I also assisted her community art project works such as constructing large paper-mache sculptures.

I coordinated with members of two environmental nonprofits, the Rio Grande Joint Venture and American Bird Conservancy, to collect and organize data about project efficacy. I collected data about landscape use and conservation practices with the Sentinel Hub's Sentinel-2 remote sensing technology. This data is used to assess whether private partners of the nonprofits are maintaining their grassland restoration commitments in South Texas. My final guide is used by both the William and Mary German Department and University of Münster English Department for their study abroad partnership.

I updated, rewrote, and clarified articles about website accessibility and legally protected wildlife species for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service ePermits website. I identified website issues, e.g. broken hyperlinks, and worked with the technical team to develop solutions and processes for site improvement. I developed a customer feedback survey in coordination with one of my supervisors, Pamela Scruggs. The survey receives direct user feedback to be analyzed for site improvement prioritizations.Additional achievements and participation: - I gained Direct Hire Authority with the United States Department of the Interior.- I presented my work to Assistant Directors of the U.S. FWS subdivisions. I promoted the value of clear and accessible communication techniques for international conservation to them.- I produced communications and helped facilitate meetings with the the Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (JEDIA) Council.- I contributed to the Office of Outreach and Communication vision document to shape the goals, values, and future direction of the office.- I tested site improvement stories with the technical team.

I produced and managed a Green Careers email listserv in partnership with the Office of Career Development & Professional Engagement and the Office of Sustainability at William and Mary. I gathered data and resources regarding sustainability oriented careers. I identified models for improving diversity, equity, and inclusion in conservation and then applied the model methodologies to the work of the Santa Fe Conservation Trust, a conservation organization. I utilized census data, ecological and social distribution factors, and geospatial information systems (GIS, ArcGIS Pro) to produce recommendations to improve equity in the organization's outreach efforts. I produced multiple maps through ArcGIS Pro for the organization to target their conservation efforts in regions of both social marginalization and environmental protection need.Key skills utilized in this position: ArcGIS Pro, methodology identification, equity analysis, data collection, data analysis, independence, remote work, hybrid work, organization, literature review, diversity equity and inclusion.

I created a full academy schedule with the director and head teacher. I organized, led, taught, and managed the resident assistants. I designed Zoom class activities and extracurriculars. I invited and organized guest speaker events. I led students to produce individual TedTalks, newspaper articles, podcase episodes, and artistic projects. I communicated with the head resident assistants of the Spanish and French academies to create cross-academy events: a talent show and an Olympics-themed competition. This was a particular challenge since students are not allowed to speak any language other than their target learning language throughout each academy - so each cross-academy event was conducted simultaneously in German, Spanish, and French with no English spoken.

I researched how "open space" is defined and preserved in the City of Alexandria under the Planning and Zoning Ordinance. I compared the definition and preservation practices to local surrounding cities Planning and Zoning Ordinances (e.g., Arlington, Washington D.C., Fairfax County). I visited public parks and locations designated and protected as open space in the City of Alexandria with representatives of the Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities.
