Graduate Research Assistant
A review and evaluation of marine primary organic aerosols (POA) was completed in order to ultimately understand how marine POA impact the earth's radiative budget and cloudiness. This was done by helping to create a satellite retrieval algorithm that would ultimately be validated in the future with previously obtained observations that will eventually be placed in a model in order to predict future changes. This work was completed under the guidance of Dr. Daniel Tong.
Graduate Research Assistant
Validation of Satellite Lightning Retrieval under Dr. Scott Rudlosky

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Evaluated seven satellite-derived precipitation products relative to a network of rain gauges and radars to investigate seasonal and spatial biases in the products. Seasonal and yearly averages, maximums, and summations were calculated for each algorithm to document long-term correlations and biases. Work completed under Mr. Ralph Ferraro and Dr. Scott RudloskySee link for information: http://cics.umd.edu/~johnj/STAR/html/US_page.html
High School Research Intern
Research completed for this study validated AMSU snowfall data with daily surface observations over North America to better understand the accuracy of the satellite retrieval in winter from 2000-2008.
