Began as the department liaison to the Ohio General Assembly and Ohio Congressional delegation, managing consumer inquiries and resolving issues. Upon successfully managing the department’s $36 million budget, became the assistant director to coordinate more directly with senior management on legislative affairs. Met regularly with legislators and stakeholders to establish key contacts, prepared and delivered testimony, and began representing the department at national conferences. Strengthened relationships internally and externally, and became a direct advisor to the Director and member of the senior leadership team. Directs all legislative strategy and activity for the department, including the main operating budget, while maintaining and strengthening key relationships with the Ohio General Assembly, the Governor’s office, and industry stakeholders. Co-leads an external relations team of four, and the roll out of priority initiatives including Ohio’s surprise billing law and mental health insurance outreach.

Managed tens of thousands of funds, maintained and completed required campaign financial reports, assisted in fundraising through scheduling and executing five fundraisers.

Served the citizens of Ohio House District 1, all of Wayne County. As the senior policy assistant to the Speaker Pro Tempore, I managed numerous leadership initiatives, while assisting in drafting of legislation and amendments.

Assigned to work in three Ohio Senate offices, including the office of the Senate Majority Whip and the Senate Finance Chairman. Tracked and organized every budget amendment. Responded to constituent inquiries and drafted press releases, columns, and floor speeches.

Worked directly with the CEO and developed a more thorough understanding of leadership and non-profit management. In addition to writing and assembling the annual report, attended conferences and drafted reports.
