Assess and admit new consults referred for hospice care.

Work alongside an Interdisciplinary Team including Social Work, Chaplain, Physicians and Nurses to provide dignified care to patients and families during end of life.

I work as a staff nurse in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit at Wakemed in Raleigh--Serve as a Critical Care nurse, assuming care of diverse patient populations, including those diagnosed with: aneurysm, ateriovenous malformation, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural hematoma, epidural hematoma, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, closed head injury, communicating and noncommunicating hydrocephalus, ventricular drain and intracranial pressure management, care of severe cerebrovascular accident, neurotrauma, various neurological disorders, administration of thrombolytics, specifically tPa, seizure disorders, direct OR recovery, post op admissions, hypothermia, organ procurement, and a variety of off service patients -Served as the first and youngest Unit Co-Chair and Unit Representative in Nursing Shared Governance at Wakemed in Wakemed's move towards Magnet Status; In this role I have led the unit in revising unit-based policies and procedures-Actively participate in the preceptor role, precepting nursing students, nurse externs and new nurses to the practice of neuroscience nursing, general nursing skills, and critical care nursing Assume a leadership role as Charge Nurse -Invited and participated as a speaker in Wakemed Nursing Grand Rounds. Topic of conversation included organ procurement, the NICU involvement with Carolina Donor Services and the obstacles and rewards encountered in caring for a Carolina Donor Services patient-Speaker at SHINE a national conference hosted by WakeMed, geared towards Neuro education, speaking on behalf Wakemed Neuro ICU's close involvement with Carolina Donor Services
