Worked in the engineering / operations of network television for seventeen years. Work included EIC for CBS Washington covering the White House and Capital Hill. In the fall NFL coverage.Joined PBS, there was Director of Technical Operations, very involved with engineering. Very active in The Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers (SMPTE). I served on several sub-committees and chaired others. They included the one inch video tape formats. Chairman of the Videotape Recording committee, The Standards Committee and held the position of Television Vice President. I was honored by my pears when I was voted to the status of Lifetime Fellow Member of Society of Motion Picture and Television EngineersWas one of four delegates for the United States to the International Electro Technical Conference held in Munich, Germany.Developed closed captioning system for film, while I was with PBS. This was done with the corporation of Eastman Kodak, who designed and construct the optical devices to record the data on 16 and 35mm film.. At the time their was a sub committee of the SMPTE working on time code for film. They reviewed the way we had modified the television time code and used it to carry the closed caption data for film they agreed to use this for film time code.
