Modeling excellence is the thread throughout my career. It is about finding an answer to the question: What is it that this expert does/knows, which makes their performance so much better than other people doing the same job? What is the secret of their success? What motives them? What are the key competencies? What are the consequences for Talent Management? It is what I would keep doing if I could delegate everything else. Initially, my models ended up in computer systems. Around 1997, my focus switched to modeling excellence for Talent Management, with applications in recruiting, training, coaching and consulting.Meanwhile I created my company jobEQ.com, which brings the notion of modeling excellence to recruiting, assessment, training and coaching. At the core of our toolset are iWAM, the automated version of the LAB Profile interview, helping to model work attitude and motivation, and the COMET behavior based interviewing methodology. Pinehurst provides consulting services and manages Real Estate in Eeklo, Belgium. We do full refurbishment projects to give historical real estate a new future.We own 3 historical buildings nobody believed in anymore: a small castle "Pinehurst Manor", a former Convent and a building that used to be a small factory. I'm proud to say that I was able to give a new future to the first two historic buildings and it's a luxury that this now contributes to reaching "financial freedom". We rent out seminar rooms as well as 26 apartments. Since July 2008 our offices are regrouped in the convent. I also live in a wing of the convent. (see www.Pinehurst.be )At the end of march 2015, we obtained a building permit for the 3rd building. We are currently converting this small former textile factory built in 1885 in 11 apartment units.

I was licensed to examine the energy use of residential buildings in Flanders and to write what are known as EPC or EPB certificates needed for renting & selling houses. I decided to stop making these certificates due to the changing regulation which raised the administrative load to make decent certificates & which made the usefulness and credibility of these certificates decline.

ever since Fingerprint4Success (F4S.com) started, it has been using the iWAM - a questionnaire and toolset I created for jobEQ.com - we have an extensive partnership between the 2 companies and I invested early on... In 2021 we went trough a partial merger and F4S now owns the software and IP from jobEQ

After personally investing in F4S in 2015 and signing a contract to make the technology we developed to measure work attitude and motivation (using the iWAM questionnaire and toolset developed for jobEQ.com ), in 2021 F4S took over the IP and software from jobEQ.com - during a 18 months, I have helped with the transition, now reverting to my role in jobEQ.com

Geneva Area, Switzerland

Between 2008 and 2015 I was one of the co-trainers in NLP Master Practitioner Program. I trained the days on meta-programs (iWAM certification), on the Graves Model (VSQ certification) and on modeling excellence (which includes jobEQ's COMET model). As a result, the Master practitioner students were (almost) ready to work as jobEQ Talent Management Consultants.

In 1997 I became self employed and created a business as coach, trainer & consultant specialized in Emotional Intelligence. Apart from open training sessions on the topic of EQ, I did training and consulting projects for organizations in Belgium such as Banksys, Belgacom, Capco, IBM, Siemens, the City of Antwerp, ... I applied what is explained in my books (e.g. Well-formed Outcomes, Metaprograms, ...), but also Appreciative Inquiry, Whole-Scale Change, ... I have trained internationally in Australia, Finland, France, Kuwait, Netherlands, United Kingdom, United States, ... Out of this experience grew my books on emotional intelligence as well as jobEQ.com, my current company.

Paris Area, France

Repère is based in Paris and offers training for coaches and consultants since 1985. I became a co-owner of this training institute, in an attempt to build an international organization called "Integral Perspectives", which would be the European branch of the Integral Institute and thus bring the Integral Vision of Ken Wilber to Europe. Our plan was ambitious and involved bringing many international thinkers to Europe. Unfortunately, due to the dot com crisis most of the expected venture capital promised to the Integral Institute didn't "materialize", which forced Repère to go back to its basics. To allow me to focus my energy on jobEQ.com, we attracted new partners, including Jean-Luc Monsempès, who ran the institute till 2016 before passing on the baton.

In 1997 I decided to write a response to Danial Goleman's book "Emotional Intelligence". Where Goleman's book showed that EQ was important, it was lacking in the area of giving answers on how to increase one's EQ. Increasing EQ is exactly what "7 Steps to Emotional Intelligence" is all about.The materials in the book were "field tested" in an evening-class of 7 sessions over 7 weeks (hence the "7 Steps") as well as in several 2-day workshops inside organizations. The results of the test were satisfactory, showing that my training program could increase EQ with at least 10% on average. The initial book was written in Dutch with Rudy Vandamme as co-author, with him adding non-business examples (my focus has mainly been business related). Later on, I worked with Denis Bridoux to expand the book (first for the English edition, then for the French edition). Meanwhile the book is available in over 10 languages.Nowadays, from time to time I still teach a 2-day workshop on Emotional Intelligence based on the book (mostly in-company training). Based on recent classes, I wrote a sequel with Rachel Colas, entitled "Vivre ses émotions" (currently in French only)

Brussels Area, Belgium

Based on this experience, I co-authored a book on Knowledge Management with Steven Warmoes (it's in Dutch: "Kennismanagement: De Vierde Golf" published in Kluwer's HRM themareeks, 2005)During the 5 years I worked as a Knowledge Management specialist, I was involved in many state of the art projects, developing expert systems for the social security system (Kruispuntbank), for safety regulations (Monsanto), for re-insurance (Secura), for planning (Bandag) and corporate financing (KBC). Most of these projects were linked to some kind of re-engineering effort where the critical knowledge of the organization had to be available to more people. I was also part of the management team with responsibilities as Human Resources, Quality Management and the organization of the office. In our projects, I often made use of "expert systems software", such as the AionDS software (developed by Trinzic, which was acquired by Platinum Technologies, which in turn was acquired by Computer Associates).

During my studies I was heavily involved in AIESEC in Belgium, holding several board member positions in the Local Committee at the University of Leuven (LCSP in 1988, LCVP in 1990,...), at the National Committee (Director for ICT around 1988) and as auditor (auditing the MC and the European/North American Region of AIESEC international). I attended several international conferences as trainer-facilitator (Benibrits – Netherlands 1989 / EUNOC – Italy 1990, ...). I ended my AIESEC career in 1991 as Organizing Committee President (OCP) of the "National Conference I” (NatCo I))
