In my role here, I partnered closely with business leaders and hiring managers in the Finance, Data, Operations, and Field Systems Engineering divisions to better understand their hiring needs and provide creative and effective recruiting strategies. I program managed 15 full life cycle recruitment processes within tight timelines and team needs. I led search kick-offs, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and offer negotiations.

Black Fox Philanthropy is a fundraising strategy consultancy focused on global NGOs. While here, I consulted 6 mid-to-large international nonprofits to identify suitable funding prospects. I often referenced internal sources and industry databases to retrieve valuable insights and summarized findings on 250+ funders. Additionally, I also advised BFP leadership with internal business development initiatives, delivered a competitive assessment on similar consulting firms and market trends, drafted business development outreach copy, and proposed strategies to engage new clients through events and partnerships.

Since its launch in 2015, Activate has supported 103 deep-tech innovators developing transformative energy, climate, and manufacturing technologies, resulting in 74 new companies that have collectively raised more than $330M to support their work. The two-year Activate Fellowship provides funding, access to world-class research facilities, entrepreneurial mentorship, networking, and education.While interning at Activate, my main projects revolved around fostering and documenting the growing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts of the organization.I conducted various forms of research (qualitative, desktop, and quantitative) to help write an article for the Association for Women in Science describing Activate's efforts towards selecting a more diverse cohort of fellows (linked below). For part of the summer, I also used LinkedIn Recruiter to find and connect with scientific entrepreneurs coming from underrepresented backgrounds to invite them to apply to Activate’s fellowship or current job openings. Finally, I provided some research and fact-checking support for the design and delivery of a Fellowship impact report.

I developed, implemented and supported 10+ programs to inform and inspire creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship at Middlebury College. I also coordinated, trained, and motivated 50+ students across the different programs to build successful creativity and innovation initiatives through mentorship and advising, the facilitation of grant programs, and event support. As a student at Middlebury, I was involved with a few of the opportunities at the Innovation Hub including the Social Entrepreneurship Fellows and Changemakers program and MiddCORE. I was also a Davis Projects for Peace grant recipient and a Reflection Friday speaker.

The Inclusion Recruiting team at LinkedIn strategizes on the best ways to make the hiring process at the company more inclusive of all individuals from varied backgrounds. Within this team I worked closely with the Engineering Recruiting group to assist their inclusion efforts by managing a monthly Newsletter, and by organizing a recruitment event geared towards supporting and recruiting women in tech. I also supported my team by designing and developing a team SharePoint site which will facilitate collaboration and efficiency. Lastly, I have researched and created a workflow that will represent the process of finding and finalizing external partnerships with organizations dedicated to supporting individuals from underrepresented groups have access to careers in tech.Outside of my work with the Inclusion Recruiting Team, while at LinkedIn I also took part in the Intern for a Cause initiative where I co-led the team that raised the most funds towards a local nonprofit. Additionally, I also provided some preliminary research towards a project initiated by the Economic Graph Team to make LinkedIn more accessible to frontline workers.

Management Leadership for Tomorrow is an 18-month professional development program for high-achieving diverse talent. Throughout various virtual and in-person assignments I completed business case studies and projects to hone analytical, quantitative, and communication skills. I also participated in professional development conferences hosted by industry leaders, such as Deloitte, Google, Goldman Sachs, Procter & Gamble, and Target.

Inspired by the great educational and personal growth opportunities I was offered in high school and university, I started a personal and leadership development program aimed at tackling the challenges East Africans with albinism (like myself) face on a daily basis. I was selected for the competitive $10,000 Davis Projects for Peace grant and I crowdfunded $2,500 to launch the pilot program in August of 2018 in Meru, Kenya. Around 35 participants and volunteers with albinism benefited from the various personal, professional, leadership, and entrepreneurship workshops I organized and facilitated in collaboration with 3 Kenyan NGOs.
