Hello! My name is Mesha Smith,I am a graduate from the Fashion Institute of Technology, with a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design Sportswear and a minor in English Writing. I participated in a program in my high school that gave me an accelerated path to understanding the financial and business sector of any company. As a requirement, I had to complete an internship over the summer before my senior year. In this internship I was heavily responsible for client relations as well as organizational financial input. I was given a lot of responsibilities and confidential clientele information, which allowed for me to learn the inner workings of consulting and collaborating with different teams.Going down this path unexpectedly led me to embrace my love for fashion. It enhanced my passion and showed me that I am best suited to work in a creative and constant changing environment.I have held multiple retail positions in different companies and have seen the day to day operations of a clothing brand, and I feel it is imperative to sharpen my skills further in the design sector. In my coursework I have learned CAD print development, technical design, and detailed construction development. I have taken classes that taught me a lot about Swimsuit Design, Performance and Outerwear Design, and Designing with Hi-Tech fabrics.My technical fashion skills are strong, but I feel there is still much to learn from the industry. I hope to be able to use the experience I have from both the industry and the classroom to facilitate any team I join, while still learning and gaining opportunities that will help me going forward.
