About Meurig Chapman
Working as a credit risk specialist has been a life passion for me. It’s a craft you never master, and that’s what I love about it. There’s always something new to learn or a new problem to solve. And the way we do things is constantly being challenged and refined with new thinking and technology. Best of all, you’re continually adding value to the company you work for, the people who use your services, and ultimately, the economy and community you live in. My passion for risk and data analytics started with an interest in maths, statistics, economics, and computers in school. After completing a maths degree I spent six months in an accounting role (which I hated), before landing an analyst role in a bank. Throughout my 20+ year career, I’ve worked in various credit risk roles within banks and financial services companies, including technical and strategic roles, executive leadership positions, and chairmanships. I’m a champion of innovation, transparency and competition within the financial services industry. I’ve also championed comprehensive credit reporting and responsible lending initiatives within Australasia. Banks and financial services are incredibly valuable to the community and economy because they enable people to prosper. As industry professionals, I believe we have an ethical obligation to do what’s best for our customers’ financial wellbeing.
Listed skills include Leadership, Strategic Agility, Delivering Results, Continuous Improvement Culture, and 27 others.
