Second Fire MusicThe Second Fire, an a cappella collectiveWe are a group of highly trained and accomplished vocalists in Chicago who sing in different configurations together: quartets, trios, quintets, etc. Our name is based on an idea from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin: If we can figure out how to harness love's energy for a divine purpose, it would be like discovering fire for the second time in history. Members are selected not only on their ability to read music and sing beautifully in a variety of different styles with little to no rehearsal, but most importantly - the willingness to advocate for kindness through music and storytelling. Our concerts are programmed to eliminate any barriers between the stage, audience, and humanity (in general). Outside of the collective, we each sing in big symphonic choruses, professional church choirs, men's and women's professional a cappella groups, and all of us are also accomplished soloists.
