Canteen is a non-for-profit dedicated to serving young people and those around them with cancer experience. As part of the Data and Tech team, I support the efforts of the organisation by collecting, understanding, and actioning the data that we generate from our fundraising, and psychosocial activities. Automated Insights. I created and maintain a set of Power BI dashboards that allow users to immediately see the value of the data Canteen generates. Highlight: The attrition dashboard for our regular giving program allows us to track the increase or decrease in donors attrition at a very high level of detail. Data Warehousing and Governance. Along with our team’s Data Engineer, I built and orchestrated a data warehouse that took data from our CRM and made it available to myself for my data science work, and others in the organisation.Research and Impact Measurement. I lent my data manipulation skills to members of the research and policy team to allow them to better grasp our clients distress levels. In addition, I improved our capability to understand the scope of the impact our services have on our clients.

My role involved the following: • Data Analytics: Using data provided by clients or other departments in the firm, I built and maintained dashboards using Power BI for HR, finance, and economic use cases. I used my previous experience in AI and Machine Learning to create predictive models and give advice on advanced analytics projects. • Development: I used python to create automations or scripts to aid in data manipulation, and wrote code that was used as a core component of a large report automation project for a bank. • Training: As part of the Technology Consulting group, I facilitated workshops on Data Analytics.• Stakeholder engagement: I worked closely with project leads and stakeholders to understand and maintain focus on their analytical needs and deliver actionable insights.

Indigo Research is a small research and development start up that focuses on AI-powered software. The company consists of engineers, managers, and researchers, such as myself. Indigo Research’s products include chatbots, webapps, and machine learning APIs. My role involved the following: • Research: I developed core components for our bilingual NLP models, formulated and attempted to answer research questions related to NLP, network science, and machine learning.• Development: My facility with Python programming allowed me build simple backend to serve results of machine learning models, and assist in other development tasks. Our projects were developed and deployed on AWS. • Training: We held an internship program where student interns would learn on the job and during sharing sessions. Indigo Research acts as a training partner for trainings in Data Science.

My role as an intern involved working on Indigo Research's NLP technologies. During my time with the company, I co-authored a paper and presented it at 14th International Conference on Web Information Systems and Technologies. I also gave a short lecture on using mathematical models to describe the spread of information.
