I run high level research for Amazon to inform direction of research and engineering for warehouse robots working near people.

I work with Amazon to improve robots for interaction with and being near humans. I have primarily worked with Bluebell and Proteus robots, which will transport carts of packages in Amazon warehouses and work co-presently with people. I developed surveys to measure how well these robots are working near people. I also explored what people need from these robots and developed specific design recommendations to improve them for use near people.

I lead the Intergroup Human-Robot Interaction (iHRI) Lab. I manage a variety of projects to examine how to improve robots for human use. For example, I have studied how groups of people change interactions with robots in the lab and real world. I have worked with older adults in a long-term (7 month) study about user acceptance of telepresence robots and developed design recommendations for improving the robots for this user group.
