Course Description: Lighting Design. Lighting plays a significant role in determining the comfort and beauty of any space. The purpose is to examine light sources and fixtures for their functional, aesthetic, psychological, environmental and economic qualities. It is also to identify and apply principles of lighting design including: lighting criteria, calculations, planning and layout.Course Description: Basic Drafting Concepts. This course addresses the basic principles of drafting especially as it applies to the field of Interior Design.

The company is focused on the design, prefab manufacturing, efficient and just-in-time site installation of green & sustainable small footprint dwellings. These buildings can range from minimalist garden studios, modern off-the-grid rural cabins, efficient lane way and coach houses through to European influenced micro-homes and larger, modular dwellings using German Passivhaus principles. The designs are notable for the "Lean"​ use of materials, "Lean" manufacturing principles and advanced assembly technologies.

For the past fourteen years I have been the principal instructor for the course: Industrial Design Process - MTEC 7045. This is core to the Bachelor of Technology Degree Program offered at BCIT.

Instructed the graduating year students in their final year Industrial Design Thesis Projects. The two photos of wireless, electronic portable hand control units, shown below, were designed by Michael Barber & Team in the North Vancouver studio of Barber Design_Consulting. These very successful products were designed and developed for the client, Omnex Controls of Coquitlam, British Columbia and are now in full production.

Co-founder of Designlines with architect partners Peter Busby and Paul Bridger, as a separate business entity, which focused on industrial design projects at the architectural partnership. I was also involved as an industrial designer on earlier design projects i.e. the Meridian phone redesign for Northern Telcom, Aluminum office furniture for Ebco Aerospace and a high-tech Video Kiosk for Videogram International

I was partner and senior designer working on a range of projects: e.g. accessible design in furniture, way-finding graphics, wheelchair tie-downs and lift assist systems for Via Rail, Prevost Bus, Transport Canada, Vancouver Airport and Expo86. A main project of this partnership was as a senior researcher of global design in transportation and communication for the Preview Centre of Expo86 in Vancouver. In addition to researching advanced design products, with business partner Uwe Rutenberg (MA Industrial Design, Ulm School of Design, Germany) we designed, developed and prototyped a small carrier for alternative transport (SCAT) which was showcased at Expo86 and used as an accessible passenger shuttle throughout the operation of this very successful International World Exhibition. Designed furniture, products, transportation systems and graphics (specifically for the elderly and disabled).
