I earned a Bachelor of Communication and Information Sciences degree through the University of Alabama's nationally ranked college of communication, during which time I gained experience in news writing, editing, public speaking, and visual media.My initial job experience is in copy editing and pagination for local newspapers, both in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and in Austin, Texas. Following these roles, I joined the Surplus Lines Stamping Office of Texas (SLTX) as Communications Coordinator, where I created and distributed news and informational articles, maintained the company's website, and managed its social media accounts.At SLTX, I wrote dozens of timely news articles that were published to thousands of subscribers and picked up by national insurance publications, and I was involved in the creation of a new corporate website and re-branding initiatives. I experienced many aspects of the organization by researching the industry, collaborating with supervisors and peers, and attending conferences and events sponsored by peer organizations and partners.In my current role as Marketing Communications Specialist for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, I contribute to the creation of required materials for the company's Medicare plans.
