Developed training materials, and visited customers on-site as necessary to help close key business.Led the development of Sapling's community strategy, and built, marketed and successfully launched company’s first online community to reach existing and prospective customers in chemistry educator demographic. With our business objective of identifying social influencers and leads normally unreachable through traditional sales efforts, we positioned Sapling as a thought leader in the "flipped" and blended-learning styles of university science teaching.Managed all external partnerships to grow market reach. Expanded our partnerships to strategically position Sapling Learning as an affordable alternative to high-priced textbook publishers that lead to substantial adoption increase (partnering with OpenStax). Negotiate and administrate all partner contracts and agreements.

I founded Door64 as a community that serves Austin-area technology professionals through online interactions and events that connected individuals and local employers. Within five years, I successfully marketed and virally grew the Door64 community to 30,000 technology professionals.We successfully innovated the traditional technology recruiting model that greatly decreased the time-to-hire. Companies like Apple, Samsung, Google, eBay, Oracle, PayPal, AT&T, Freescale, Rackspace, Texas Instruments and many more sponsored our events to gain local publicity and hire technology candidates. Over the time I ran Door64, we hosted over 100 educational and networking events including focused job fairs, networking happy hours, SXSW Interactive events, technical conferences, and tech-focused meet-ups. All of these events were purposefully designed, in one way or another, to serve and promote the greater Austin technology community as a whole.

Joined the JobCannon startup to create a SaaS application that helped job seekers completely organize and execute their job search efficiently. I met with job seekers one-on-one and in groups to get inside their heads...to understand their daily challenges, and translate them into requirements and features. I felt the immense satisfaction of seeing our customers use JobCannon to identify hidden job opportunities, and get interviews (and jobs!)

Design and functional verification engineer of multiple core and system-on-a-chip projects. Notable contributions:* Developed all memory BIST verification software tools for directed and random testing; authored and executed verification plan on PowerQUICC-3 SoC’s in simulation and hardware emulation. * Integrated PowerPC core and SoC test benches for directed-random system testing of a new SoC design. Traveled to India to deploy test bench and teach local verification engineers.* Created a directed-random tests environment to verify coherency of a PowerPC core L1 cache in an SoC using random instruction set generation tool as stimulus.* Pioneered use of SystemVerilog Assertions (SVA) in PowerPC core verification IP.* Block-level and system-level verification of complex arbiters for the system bus and PCI bus, testing specifically for system-wide deadlock scenarios.* Developed multiple types of verification IP, including protocol monitors, response checkers, drivers, and coverage checkers using Verilog, C++, Vera, and SVA.* Created a bus arbitration modeling simulator in C++ to evaluate performance of various arbitration algorithms.* Authored customer programming application notes, and presented technical talks in academic settings.

This start-up was focused on higher ed, aiming to help electrical and computer engineering students grasp system-level design considerations through experimentation on actual integrated hardware and software. From concept to implementation, designed an application (written in Java/Eclipse + SWT) for engineering students and professors.Architected all software, from the user-interface down to the drivers that communicate with external hardware. I managed two off-shore development teams who implemented driver, firmware, licensing, and installation development.

Consulted on functional verification strategies and algorithms for the Vennsa EDA application.

Responsible end-to-end for the MPC 860 SoC / communications processor product line (0.42u and 0.32u process).I designed and executed experiments to increase fabrication and final test yield, outgoing quality, and reliability of the device in the field. My characterization experiments resulted in increased sales for higher performance chips. Debugged bring-up, production, and customer issues on testers, both in wafer probe and final test.Mentored and trained all junior engineers, and routinely called upon for expert advice for fabrication, assembly, and final test issues both in States and overseas in China and Malaysia.
