As a Ph.D. student at the Medical/Steno Aarhus Research Laboratory, my research revolves around the physiological effects of lactate. I am exploring the impact of lactate in the gut on appetite regulation and its broader effects on substrate metabolism in healthy individuals. This work not only furthers our understanding of human physiology but also has the potential to contribute valuable insights to the fields of nutrition and metabolic health. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to scientific knowledge in these areas.

I had the incredible opportunity to embark on a 3-month research journey at the Endocrine Research Unit in the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. Under the mentorship of Dr. Michael D. Jessen, I focused on gaining skills in utilizing GCMS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) for the analysis of D2-glucose tracer data derived from clinical studies.This experience not only provided me with the unique opportunity to collaborate with world-renowned experts in the field of endocrinology but also inspired me through immersion in a vibrant and robust research community.

Under the supervision of Morten Smærup Olsen, I led an epidemiological project, that examined the risk of ischemic stroke in adults with congenital heart disease. This experience provided me with valuable insights into cardiovascular epidemiology, improved my research and analytical skills, and allowed me to make contributions that will hopefully benefit this patient population's healthcare outcomes

During my medical student years, I had the privilege of participating in a 1-month clinical observership at the Heart Institute of Cincinnati Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Under the guidance of Dr. Nicolas L. Madsen, I had the opportunity to closely observe and learn from expert clinicians as they provided treatment and care to children born with congenital heart disease.This experience was not only educational but also deeply inspiring, reaffirming my commitment to the field of medicine and the importance of compassionate care for patients facing complex health challenges.
