I have always loved listening to other people’s stories. I love the puzzle that comes with hearing a story - identifying a problem and finding a solution that fits that person’s need. Naturally, I thought I would become a therapist - to listen, solve, and repeat. So, I went to school for Psychology. During my Master’s program at SDSU, I discovered the power of data, statistics, and research to aid in solving problems. Involved in a healthcare lab, I watched the mortality rates of patients decreasing through implementation of programs that aimed to address their barriers and problems. I found myself with a new goal: use processes, systems, and products to help a lot of people solve big problems. I worked in healthcare for several years, exploring the stories of patients, doctors, and executives and finding ways to resolve or ease their pain points. I learned that I have a passion for telling the stories, too – presenting data through data visualization, developing reports and communication materials, and leading cross collaboration between people and teams. I went back to school at UCLA to get my Master's in Business Administration while becoming a mother. Business and parenthood merged, and my capstone project included developing an at home story kit that would help nurture positive connections between parents and child and support social emotional skill building.That lead me to a passion in education. So I got together with 2 other education experts and we decided to build an elementary school. It's called InWonder Academy in San Clemente. Here, we collect, shape, and tell the stories of our students as the embark on their own learning journeys.In my “free” time, you will find me having dance parties with my husband and our two sons, making a plant-based meal, writing a song, swing dancing, or dreaming up a new idea at the whiteboard to add to my growing “idea romance” list (88 ideas and counting).
