Co-President
As the Co-President of Young Canadians in Finance (YCIF), I play an integral role in setting, and implementing, annual and strategic objectives across YCIF's chapters in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Washington DC, New York City and London (UK). This ranges from coordinating the organization's overall communications and marketing strategy, building relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring long term financial viability, legal compliance, strategic growth in new chapter cities, corporate governance and working directly with the organization's Chapters to deliver value to YCIF members. In accomplishing the above, I work with the organization's Global Executive, Chapter Executives, the YCIF board of directors and YCIF's advisors. The end product of our cumulative efforts is an organization that provides members and the financial community with access to top-tier leaders from the financial industry at speaking events, Chapter based think-tank events focused on problem solving timely issues in finance and economics, and informal opportunities for our community to network and build strong careers and friendships.
Vp, Global Communications
As VP, Global Communications of Young Canadians in Finance, I was tasked with managing and developing the outward face of the organization and building strong relationships with YCIF speakers, sponsors and other stakeholders. I was also responsible for establishing effective communication protocols internally between the organization's Global Executive, its various chapter executives and the organization's membership in Canada, the United States and England. My role also focused heavily on developing the organization's brand and the way that YCIF enables its members to connect. Most recently, I provided strategic and detailed oversight during the development and implementation of the organization's new website, which, in comparison to our old website, provided additional sources of connectivity through social media for YCIF's 1,000+ members across chapters in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, New York City, Washington DC and London (UK) as well as a robust tool for allowing YCIF to communicate more efficively and efficiently with its members. Throughout this process, the high level concerns were ensuring that the new website would not only be consistent with the development of YCIF's brand, but also provide our members with inherent value, through an ability to quickly build relationships with other members in their local chapters and abroad.
Co-President, Ottawa Chapter
As Co-President of Young Canadians in Finance (YCIF), Ottawa, I worked with an exceptional team of eight to design and develop events in Ottawa that focus on bringing professionals, working in finance, together. These events, structured around high profile speakers from Canada's financial community, foster education and a collaborative approach amongst attendees and speakers in developing a more robust and competitive Canadian economy. These events also aim to provide attendees with opportunities for business development and mutual advancement through interacting with other motivated, like-minded and highly skilled professionals in finance.Speakers from YCIF Ottawa's past events have included: Eric Siegel, former President & CEO of Export Development Canada; Thomas D’Aquino, former President and CEO of Canadian Council of Chief Executives; Tiff Macklem, Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada; Doug Hyndman, CEO and Chair of the Canadian Securities Transition Office; Wayne Wouters, Clerk of the Privy Council; Glen Hodgson, Senior Vice-President and the Chief Economist of The Conference Board of Canada; Gregory Smith, President and Director of Canada’s Venture Capital & Private Equity Association and Managing Partner at global investment bank, Brookfield Financial Corp. (Toronto); Jim Leech, President and CEO of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan; and Kevin Page, Canada's first Parliamentary Budget Officer
