I believe the future of energy and resource gathering must be circular and sustainable, and will occur in ever more remote places such as the sea, in deserts, and many developing nations. My passions lie within the infrastructure required to achieve those goals, while reducing impacts on the environment and improving quality of life. I want to be part of the change that makes the world better and each place more in love with its uniqueness.MSc. Urban Systems Engineering from Wageningen University and ResearchBSc. Sustainable Urban Designer - Bachelor Thesis Civil Engineering -Gemeente Middelburg Sep 2017 - Aug 2018Middelburg, NederlandDesigning a new neighborhood (+/- 400 homes) with sustainability in mind. Wastewaste water must be separated into its black and grey constituents, while all rain water must be handled on the surface. Special detail must be paid to ensure that there is sufficient infiltration of rain water into the soil. The area must be able to handle "cloud burst" events which are expected to increase due to climate change. The area must also be able to withstand months of drought. Grey wastewater will be cleaned on site to supplement water flow through the open water bodies to maintain ground water levels during drought. Area: 330,000m2. Designs done using Civil 3D

Project Manager "No Bridge Too Far" - Bachelor Internship Civil EngineeringScalda Feb 2017 - Sep 2017Vlissingen, The NetherlandsIn a remote region of Morocco, two villages share a school and a hospital but are separated by a river. Most of the year it is dry enough to cross but every winter the river floods, thereby cutting off the two interdependent villages. This creates several problems for school children and the sick. As such a team of students has formed to construct a 32 meter long bridge to overcome this gap. The team is working on the designing, calculations, permits, implementation, health and safety and the eventual construction of the bridge. As team leader, it is my fuction to delegate, check, and oversee all aspects of the project, so as to ensure quality and a timely finish. -
Building With Nature: Research AssistantThe Work Zone B.V. (Twz) Jul 2016 - Aug 2016Vlissingen, The NetherlandsWithin the Building with Nature research group at the HZ university of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen, I have been involved with different pilots for the research on 'Biodiversity on artificial oyster reefs'. Research description: The impact of artificial oyster reefs on erosion, wave impact on shore and the growth of biodiversity were the points of interest for this research. For the pilots, oyster reefs were used as natural coastal protection and mimics of oysters were used to gain an insight on the tidal fluctuations. Mussels were placed behind these oyster reefs and the growth of them were monitored along with the efficiency of the reefs on erosion and wave obstruction over a period of time. Responsibilities included: • Drawing up working method/small scale implementation plans• Team management – personnel, transportation and equipment planning• Material preparation for the setting up of the experiments• Assisted in surveying the field of interest with the DGPS -
Laboratory Technician - Bachelor Thesis Life ScienceHz University Of Applied Sciences Sep 2015 - Mar 2016Vlissingen, The NetherlandsUnderstanding the various effects of nutrition (cultivation media) on the viability and biochemical composition of Rhodomonas baltica (algae), for the purpose of being a potential feed stock in aquaculture. Results yielded that algae cultivation could be done more cost effecitively by removing Boron and Molybdenum, while reducing Nitrates and Phosphates. Late-log phase was found to be the optimal harvesting time for the best biochemical composition. -
Junior Consultant - Wind Energy & Project ManagementOutsmart Bv Sep 2012 - Jan 2013NetherlandsDesigned an all-inclusive proposal for a 300 million euro wind park, to be located in the German portion of the North Sea.Tasks included geological surveys of soil, sea & weather conditions, followed by an EIA and SEA, as well as contracts of sale, offtake and concession agreements, EPCI, incoterms & logistics, & the procurement of turbines, foundations and cabling.Wind Energy Project Management is an international minor at the HAN University of Applied Sciences, delivered in cooperation with OutSmart wind professionals. This minor deals with every aspect of harvesting wind energy using offshore wind farms. It is a unique study designed for Engineering and Economic Management students.Further Information can be found at:http://www.out-smart.nl/education-training/minor-wind-energy-project-management/ -
Laboratory Technician - Bachelor Internship Life ScienceWageningen University Feb 2012 - Jul 2012NetherlandsEstablishing a NIRS platform for the prediction of plant cell-wall biochemical traits. At the time, the task was the production and validation of a high throughput NIRS platform used for the accurate phenotyping of complex biochemical traits in a double haploid maize population with promising bioenergy characteristics. I performed cellulosic ethanol research under the guidance of Andres Torres Salvador. The idea was to find innovations leading to reductions in the chemical and energetic stringency of thermochemical pretreatments and enzymatic saccharification. Thus came the idea of a NIRS platform. In this internship, key compositional features of maize cell walls influencing the enzymatic conversion of biomass into fermentable sugars had to be identified. Stem samples from eight contrasting genotypes were subjected to a series of thermal dilute-acid pretreatments of increasing severity and evaluated for glucose release after enzymatic saccharification. These results were used to calibrate the NIRS platform.
