Hasan (He/Him) is a first-year PhD student. He is broadly interested in issues of race, gender, and sexuality, exploring how these powerful social constructs shape interaction within everyday spaces, and define our institutions. Currently, this interest has led him towards investigations of the prison system, the Black Church, and various constructions of masculinity. He utilizes mixed-methods approaches, with particular inclinations towards ethnography and text analysis in R-Studio.His previous research projects have explored how masculinity is constructed in the gym space and racialized constructions of criminality within media. Hasan’s current project, working alongside Dr. Hye Ryeon Jang, assistant professor of Political Science at Morehouse College, uses quantitative text analysis to examine how the idea of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics is constructed within Xi Jinping’s written works.In 2024, Hasan received his B.A. in Political Science and Sociology from Morehouse College.
