In my season as the Director of Video Production for the Sacramento Republic FC, it was my job to oversee all aspects of production and strategic brand storytelling. With a small team of freelance and in-house videographers and editors, we covered each match, produced highlights and video ads, and told longer-form club and partnership stories.

As the Director of Video for Tom Steyer’s 2020 democratic presidential campaign, I was responsible for hiring, equipping and managing a video team of fourteen. Our team produced more than 1,800 deliverables which received more than one billion video views on social media alone. I was responsible for video style as well as strategic storytelling decisions. From the start, I advocated strongly for stories not just about Tom Steyer, but about the struggles of everyday Americans. Internally, we referred to these stories as mini-documentaries and were a great way to shed light on important issues while providing a window into the compassion at the core of Tom’s campaign.Highlights include:“Tom and Deanna”“A Poisoned Community”“Hospital Closures”All of which can be found on Tom’s YouTube page.Tom’s late entry into the race meant the video team had to grow quickly in order to meet the demand for content. The condensed hiring process was a challenge, but I’m extremely proud of the diverse team of video professionals we assembled in such a short time.As a manager, I truly enjoyed mentoring junior team members by encouraging them to take risks and develop their own artistic sense while making sure that I was available to give valuable feedback both one-on-one and in group settings. With more senior staff my focus was on supporting and empowering them by making sure they had the resources they needed to tell meaningful stories.Finally, I just want to give a huge shout-out to the whole Tom 2020 video team. Video production can be taxing under normal circumstances and the added pressure of a presidential campaign can amplify that pressure tenfold, but everyone did an amazing job. I was very lucky to lead such a dedicated and creative team.

As the Video Director for Tom Steyer’s 90 million dollar campaign to impeach Trump I managed all video production and oversaw live-streams of nationwide town hall events. Our team helped to grow the Need to Impeach petition from 5 million to 8.3 million signers through digital and broadcast advertising, and organic digital content. Need to Impeach helped flip the House in the midterms and laid the groundwork for the successful impeachment of the most corrupt president in American history.
