Worked with Professor Alex Guo and Dr. Phillip Palacio through the Summer Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship to investigate the structure of myoglobin by replacing its native heme group with an altered Fe57-isotope-enriched heme group. Developed a procedure of extracting the native heme group and re-inserting hemin from a 15% to 50% yield using techniques such as dialysis, protein concentration, organic extractions, and enzymology.
