I am responsible for leading weekly study groups for students in Calculus 1, 2, 3, and Math 104, as well as administrating practice exams. Study groups are designed to help students understand the concepts taught in class, as well as feel supported and comfortable navigating their first semesters in college.

The Lawrence Community Orchestra is a professional orchestra in Lawrence comprised of music teachers, student musicians, and any other qualified player who asks to join from our community. We play a range of professional literature, and host 3-5 concerts per year. Music has the power to bring us all together, and can communicate much more than words ever could. I am thankful for this opportunity to keep music in my life despite my busy schedule and career goals. I have been playing violin since I was five years old, and it will always be an important part of my life.

KU is well known for its cutting edge structural research, and I am thankful for the opportunity I was given to get involved. During my junior year spring semester I started working part time in the structural testing lab on KU's West Campus, and continued in that position through the summer while taking some online classes. I assisted graduate students in their structural research and strength testing of concrete beams, walls, and steel rebar by building formwork, assisting in strength tests, mixing Ultra High Performance Concrete, grinding and testing cylinders, cleaning formwork, and assisting with many other general tasks needed around the lab. This experience allowed me to understand not only how different types of concrete behave under large loads, but also gave me valuable insight into what it is like for the construction workers who build the things we as engineers design.

I was a concept design intern for RIC’s Lenexa office. I used AutoCAD to design and detail drawings for Dollar Tree parking lots, following city ordinance and landscape requirements to create functional, economical parking areas and access roads in various states.

I was provided the opportunity to intern with Clayco's new structural engineering office in Kansas City. I was taught to navigate gravity load design and the ASCE engineering code book, as well as some lateral design and information about hazard zones. While I primarily worked on warehouse design, the valuable problem solving and design skills I was taught will benefit me for the rest of my career, and I am thankful for this valuable experience!

Pet World's mission statement is to foster, educate, inspire, and conserve, and they certainly live up to that goal. During my time at Pet World I was responsible for customer care, animal care, stocking, sales, training, community outreach, presentations, and children’s programs that not only taught me valuable life skills, but changed the lives of the people I interacted with. There is something inspiring about helping a child hold a bird for the first time, or preparing a family to take home a new pet. I am encouraged and thankful for the kind hearts of Tim and Sherry, and their commitment to protecting and teaching people about this world that we call our home.
