Steel (Raw, Stampings) Commodity Manager July 2006 – 2011 (recalled to OEF – see next section)Responsibilities: Corporate Strategic Buyer - Working with 3 Fram plants in the Americas to manage suppliers across these commodities. 54 million desk dealing with mills and steel processors.Accomplishments:* Using E-Auction and market timing saved $2.4M on a $13M spend for HRPO steel, beating inflation by 14%.* Built AOP annual operating plan which estimated inflation and projects to offset inflation.* Reduced supply base by 13%, allowing plants to focus on fewer suppliers.

Recalled by the Navy for Operation Enduring FreedomResponsibilities: Watch Operations 24/7, Personnel Recovery Coordination Center (4 CH-53 Helo’s, 2 HC130’s, PJ’s, CRO), metrology center, country desk division, combined operational picture system, and 13 country liaison officers. Accomplishments:* The Horn of Africa Operations Center oversaw Force Protection, Mil-to-Mil training, School Construction, Well Drilling, and Civil Affairs mission in 11 countries, an area of responsibility 2/3 the size of the United States. Onesource is a large database which receives inputs from many different back-office software databases and is used to help focus on supplier spend, PPM and delivery metrics.Accomplishments:* Created process maps of the current system data fields and where the same information resides in Onesource.* Implemented a supplier change (savings of $137,200) for De-Icer aerosol ahead of schedule.* Volunteered to work with unqualified supplier to produce a new product for immediate delivery to customers due to original supplier not be able to meet its commitments. Ensured new product was delivered on time by being on site for entire run.

Communicated idea to Marketing, Purchasing, Quality Control, Manufacturing (machining and assembly), and Reliability departments.Accomplishments:* Gathered capital and variable costs and made a recommendations based on the project’s return (IRR, NPV). * Documented the bill of material (BOM) change process. * Trained internal customers on the engineering change process. * Coordinated releasing 62 new Quest models saving $1,491,000 through cost reduction changes for two product lines in one year.

Responsibilities: Purchase compressor components ($119 MM per year) for high volume (10,000 per day) plant. Ensure smooth operations of parts flow from suppliers to plant. Contained inflation, implemented cost reductions, and supported new models.Accomplishments:* Saved $878,544 for FY96 through in depth negotiations and introduction of component redesigns. * Standardized quoting procedure to always included average monthly demand, seasonality, and peak demand within lead time.* Team leader for steel and motor purchases. Responsibilities: Initiated, monitored, documented, and improved assembly process for semi-hermetic compressor plant. Accomplishments:* Installed a real-time defect recording system with off-the-shelf equipment using bar coding (user-friendly, documented, and automated). * Reduced parts per million (PPM) defects in assembly from 113,038 to 96,932 in six months. Reduced name plate errors to zero.
