Enlink Midstream operates 9,100 miles of natural gas, natural gas liquids, and crude oil pipelines on the Gulf Coast and the Ohio River Valley. EnLink operates 16 plants that in aggregate can process natural gas at 3.6 bcf/day. EnLink is active in the liquids business as well, with seven NGL fractionators and 280,000 bbl/day net fractionation capacity. EnLink's logistics capabilities also include barge & rail terminals, product storage facilities, and an extensive truck fleet.At EnLink, I visualized data from NGL & Crude transactions to physical product flows to plant operations. EnLink's data analysis technology stack was Tableau, R, d3js, as well as some custom tools for presentation. We worked with data from Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases, and a variety of unstructured and time series data sources. At the margins of these systems, spreadsheet and text-wrangling tools are very useful - here we frequently used RStudio, SublimeText, Excel, Atom, and IPython Notebook.To give measurement analysts in the field insight into the quality of trucked Y-Grade product over time, I built an interactive graphic that shows historical molecular composition volume-weighted averages by geographic origin. The analyst sees a map, a chart, and a table of movements or locations that can be dynamically filtered by multiple features. Selections can be made based on any of these chart objects, and all data can be easily exported to a spreadsheet. I recently refactored the data processing pipeline for this project to so that updates can be accomplished with a single concise R script and a bit of manual geocoding. This refactoring with R reduced time to maintain this interactive tool by 96%. I was actively involved with software evaluation and selection, training and staff development, risk management, and commercial systems support.
