I teach language arts and social studies at this free public charter school in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Along with preparing and delivering the instruction for the Oklahoma Pass Skills, I have been collaborating with other teachers to prepare for the transition to the Oklahoma Academic Standards. I have worked on grants to improve the materials in my classroom, and also partnered with a teacher to run a 4H club focused on STEM curriculum.

Along with preparing and delivering 5th grade curriculum aligned with the Oklahoma's PASS skils, I coached soccer in the fall and currently assistant coach the boys basketball team.

I work with students two times a week individually to aid them in homework. We also work on math and reading skills, and other curicular areas their teachers identifu. There is also a technology class for all tutors once a week, where I aid students who need help with the lesson.

Starting in December of 2008, I began working with Beth Sims in a fifth grade classroom. I instructed a math group, reading groups, and taught various other units and lessons. I instructed a unit for black history month, a data comparison unit on rainfall for two different parts of the world, a poetry unit for the month of April, and a technology project which concluded in making a movie. In the subsequent school year, I teamed up with Erin Pattishall to teach the 4-5th grade students. We plan and implement instruction together. My primary responsibility at the beginning of the year was to teach 4th grade math. I have also taught lessons in other curricular areas. I have taught units on water use and conservation, mapping coins from around the world, poetry for the month of April, and a technology unit which included the use of filming and movie making. In March Erin and I switched the math levels we had been teaching, so I will be teaching 5th grade math for the remainder of the year. I also meet with readers to work on fluency and reading for deeper meaning.
