Michael A. Arthur is Senior Associate Dean and Professor in University Libraries at The University of Alabama. He also serves as Associate Dean for Special Collections, Associate Dean for Research, and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Sport Marketing & Management in 1991, and his Master of Library Science in 1999, from Indiana University in Bloomington. He received his Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University in 2006. Michael held faculty positions at Ball State University, Old Dominion University, and the University of Central Florida before joining The University of Alabama in 2015. Michael is a well-established scholar in the field of librarianship and his research interests focus on the efficient and effective delivery of scholarly content to the university community. In 2015, Michael received one of the five Faculty Excellence Awards presented annually by the Office of the Provost at the University of Central Florida. The award recognized innovative contributions to the university and a sustained period of excellence in the library profession. In 2019, Michael was selected as one of four University of Alabama professors to participate in the SEC Academic Leadership Development Program.
