Trees for Life specializes in cultivating the mindset that where just a few join hands, miraculous transformation can take place. They do this with the aim of inspiring others to relieve themselves from the bonds of poverty. Trees for Life has partnered with many communities and witnessed them transform themselves from despair to hope realized since its inception in 1984. I participate in cultivating this transforming mindset through a growing education initiative. Our goal is to empower communities around the world to raise the quality of education through inspiring and equipping teachers.

My generation and those who followed have grown up in a culture of disenfranchising entitlement. For lack of effort, due to faulty expectations, many of us fall hard. Most of us have social networks to catch us, but some young people do not enjoy the benefits of a caring, capable community. These youth end up on the streets, or in social programs. These are my students. The world is our classroom.I facilitate youth in adopting the knowledge, attitude, and social networking skills necessary to succeed. I adapt education curriculum from Youth Entrepreneurs for use in alternative settings. Currently, this curriculum is being applied in a setting comprised of disenfranchised youth; what some might call 'society's orphans'. We learn and practice the liberation found in free-market economics. Youth cast off their disenfranchised perspectives, and begin to believe in their own efforts. They reach beyond the limits of what is given freely and aspire to their own success based on comparative advantages and creative imagination.

One cannot pass through an opened door if one is unaware of the door entirely.The Wichita Children's Home is composed of programs tailored to specific needs and age groups. BRIDGES is a transitional living program that helps to prepare residents for an independent life by Building Responsibility and Independence through Developing Goals and Empowerment Skills. I participate in this program as a mentor
