This position gave me great insight and experience with all the responsibilities an architect undertakes. In this role I am working on high end bespoke housing and commercial projects throughout all stages of the RIBA plan of work. This includes, producing project design briefs, complex 3D topographical models, conceptual design and planning drawings, project programming, contract administration duties and acting as lead consultant. I have also been given the task of producing building warrant applications and detailed production drawings, including full construction detail drawings, liaising with consultants to produce an accurate and realistic design to meet the clients brief, budget and aspirations. I regularly chaired site and client meetings to discuss progress both on construction on contractual matters. my role also included social media manager producing several brochures, updating current websites and regularly updating the public face of the practice. This includes designing advertisements with the use of Adobe software, 3D models and photorealistic images to advertise to potential clients. I work with the team and also independently doing whatever task I am allocated.Key Achievement: Improving my design skills in realistic situations and learning to work and cooperate with other disciplines within the construction industry.

My role within this job was to manage administration within a busy pack house employing over 70staff. My daily duties included stock takes and the calculation of daily overheads. I also had dailycontact with customers, growers and hauliers, producing reports and monitoring customer business.I gained comprehensive experience with office organisation and routine, sound communicationskills with customers and clients and experience supervising others and working under myown initiative.Key Achievement: Supervising staff, liaising with clients and customers, working under pressure andusing my initiative to manage my workload efficiently and working effectively as part of a team.

During my practice experience at RDA architects I worked on design projects from initial sitesurveying through to planning phases. This included completing site surveys, development of CADdrawings from early design stages through to detailed proposals, completion of planning applicationand building warrant forms, neighbourhood notifications, meeting with planning officers to discussconservation issues and the creation of 3D images to show photorealistic impressions. The rolealso contained general support activities within the office. This included filing, client enquiries andattending CPD seminars on a regular basis.Key Achievement: Learning the role of the architect in a working environment and improving myarchitectural knowledge and skills.

My role as a labourer was to prepare the site for the tradesmen, handling of materials, making surethe site was tidy and obstruction free, assisting the site manager with progress and safety checksand undertaking a wide range of odd jobs as required.Key Achievement: Gaining an insight into how the construction industry works, the differentprofessionals who work within it and health and safety issues on a construction site.
