Michael E. Bertin is a partner and Co-Chair of the Family Law Group of Obermayer Rebmann Maxwell & Hippel, LLP. Mr. Bertin is an in-demand family law attorney who focuses his practice on child custody, child support, spousal support, alimony, divorce, property distribution, prenuptial agreements and related issues. He has widespread appeal to clients of all economic levels, from the wealthiest of clients with complex financial matters and large estates, to the basic divorce. Mr. Bertin has written over 100 articles and is the author of the book titled Pennsylvania Child Custody Law, Practice, and Procedure. With respect to child/spousal support cases, Mr. Bertin won the most important high income child support case in Pennsylvania in decades. This case resulted in a unanimous decision from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court which has changed support law in Pennsylvania forever. Mr. Bertin is a former Chair of the Family Law Section of Pennsylvania Bar Association, former Chair of the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association and is the President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML).   Mr. Bertin is a partner and Co-Chair of Obermayer's Family Law Group. He is the Vice President of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML). He is listed in The Best Lawyers In America, and in 2021 was named Lawyer of the Year for Family Law for the Philadelphia region. Mr. Bertin is co-author of the book PENNSYLVANIA CHILD CUSTODY LAW, PRACTICE, AND PROCEDURE. He received a 2011 PBA Special Achievement Award for his contributions to enact Pennsylvania's new Custody Act. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Joint State Government Commission Domestic Relations Advisory Committee. Mr. Bertin is a former Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section, and the Philadelphia Bar Association Family Law Section and currently the co-chair of its Custody Committee. He is a former member of the Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors and currently a member of the PBA House of Delegates. Mr. Bertin is listed in "Super Lawyers” by Philadelphia Magazine and was also selected as one of the 2018 Makers of the Main Line by Philadelphia Magazine. He is also listed as one of the Philadelphia Region's Ten Leaders in Divorce Law by the Ten Leaders Cooperative. Mr. Bertin was also selected as a “2007 Lawyer on the Fast Track” by The Legal Intelligencer. Mr. Bertin is a frequent lecturer, moderator, and author on family law topics. He has also written over 100 legal articles, with articles appearing in the Pennsylvania Law Weekly; The Philadelphia Lawyer; Family Lawyer Magazine; Pennsylvania Family Lawyer; and PBI and AAML course materials. Mr. Bertin is a member of the Family Law Advisory Council for the Volunteers for Indigent Program, the Doris Jonas Freed Inn Of Court, and the Family Law Section of the Montgomery Bar Association. He received his B.A. cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh and his J.D. from Temple University School of Law, where he was the recipient of the AAML’s Eric D. Turner Award.
