My main area of research is the development, theoretical analysis, and practical application of machine learning algorithms. In addition, I am interested in the modelling and simulation of complex physical system by means of Monte Carlo and related methods.Prototype based methods of supervised and unsupervised learning are in the center of my most recent research activities. In this context, the use of unconventional and adaptive distance measures in Learning Vector Quantization plays an important role. Applications concern mainly the analysis, clustering, classification and visualization of bio-medical data.
