2009-2010 (Temporary Active Duty as Damage Control Petty Officer)Responsibilities:- Conducted meticulous maintenance on a wide array of shipboard emergency equipment used to engage fires, oil/fuel spills, flooding and hull damage.- Responsible for fire safety during flight operations in the event of on deck aircraft emergencies.Contributions:- Utilized creative thinking to conduct repairs, maintenance and implement new procedures that saved the Navy over $30,000 in repairs and over 100 hours’ worth of work that would have otherwise been contracted out to other companies, costing thousands more resulting in receiving the Blue Jacket of the Year Award and my first Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.- Tasked with managing the ship’s network infrastructure and satellite communications systems during uncommonly hot period. All servers and networks were going to have be shut down within a matter of hours due to the heat, but my creative thinking and operational drive allowed me and my team to replace faulty and restricted air ducts resulting in 0 loss of equipment and network functionality.
