Communicates and implements procedures and negotiating strategies. Responsible for all Metal Co. procurement plans. Aligns raw material supply chain and inventory position with forward looking SOP. Works proactively to improve the SOP process. Develop and maintain supply routes that optimize properties of raw materials. Conducts contract negotiations for steels, freight, carbide, corrugated, and files. Identify and qualify new vendors for supplying materials, components and services.  Place, manage and expedite purchase orders as required. Improve vendor performance through supplier score cards and plant visits, follow up on corrective actions and communicate priority changes. Act as liaison between production facilities and suppliers to improve delivery, cost and quality of materials. Maintain and improve ISO 9001 purchasing procedures and records  Manages buyers in Fitchburg. Provide training and direction to Melsungen buyer in Germany, liaising with local management. Has priority access to laboratory personnel, manufacturing engineering, R&D engineering, procurement personnel, finance personnel and outside service engineering resources as needed to accomplish the essential duties. Performs employee performance appraisals on direct reports making recommendations on salary
