I recognized the need for high-quality customer service training - not least in the booming tourism industry - achieved through international collaboration with British Council HQ in London and the British Council Corporate Training Unit in Singapore. 2) Asked by Simon Taufel and the ICC (International Cricket Council) to develop a bespoke English Language Skills training course for elite cricket umpires in South Asia, I oversaw the development, staffing, and successful delivery of the course in 4 countries. 3) Commissioned by British Council APTIS exam services. I led on a groundbreaking benchmarking study of workplace language needs in Sri Lanka. This was subsequently used in BCs worldwide. 4) Through a thorough assessment of communication needs, I made groundbreaking in-roads on positioning the PTC as a bespoke skills provider for the region's booming high-end tourism industry, catering for some of the prestigious resorts on the Island.

And working with BC colleagues on a contract with a medical university in addition to pioneering a writing programme for post-graduate students at Hitotsubashi University and taught ESP/EAP classes for foundation students at several Tokyo universities. I also taught British Council's literature course. I was twice chosen to showcase teaching at the British Council's Tokyo centre: performing model lessons for visiting British Members of Parliament and the Head of British Council world-wide teaching operations. I starred in a Japanese news documentary on English language training (aired on prime-time Japanese TV). Working with British Council colleagues, I pioneered a link with a school in Yokohama in which we devised new task-based English language syllabus. (See research paper)
