Building 16 Ferret Barrier Facility· Provide Supplemental nutrients to kits aged 3-5 weeks and Jills that are Pregnant, Whelping and nurturing weanling litters.· Wean kits.· Generate identification numbers for production and future breeder Ferrets.· Implantation of RFID chips into four week old kits and re-implantation into animals with failed chips.· Surgical removal of requested organs for shipment to customer.· Palpation of suspected pregnant Jills.· Oversee whelping process to ensure maximum production.· Perform cesarean when natural and chemical (lutalyse, oxytocin) fail to yield birthing in palpation/colostrum positive Jill.· Inoculation of ferrets bound for overseas shipments.· Provide care to newborn kits and assist Jills with removal of placenta, cutting umbilical cord and maintain newborn homeostasis.· Maintain health of litters, measure weight and ensure continuous growth providing milk or fostering.· Keep detailed notes of Jill's performance i.e. kits brought to weaning, pregnancy success rate aggressive behaviors towards humans/ferrets.· Management of breeding ferrets light dark cycles.· Breeding selection (outbred).· Select new breeders from weekly pool of kits.· Organization of colony with proper male/female separation and planning to reduce overcrowding.· Observation and recording of estrous cycles.· Maintain facility cleanliness and Biosecurity.

Barrier Room H46· Manage daily breeding of outbred CD1 colony.· Quality control for outgoing orders verifying sex and ensuring animal health.· Euthanasia of retired breeders and overstock.· Feed, water and provide animals with a clean safe environment.· Maintain facility cleanliness and Biosecurity.Surgery Center· Ensure health and maintain homeostasis of surgically altered Specimens.· Provide assistance to animals with improperly seated or missing wound clips by replacing or tightening clips as needed.· Monitor accuracy of surgery staff and bring any mistakes or inconsistencies to their attention.· Prep. animals for surgery i.e. fasting, shaving, iodine application, isoflurane and preparation of Biological Safety Cabinet (Surgery Hood).· Receive animals from on site barrier rooms.· Preparation of holding cages.· Blood draws for both outgoing orders and monthly internal pathogen testing.· Implantation of RFID chips.· Maintain facility cleanliness and Biosecurity.
