I began at The Hub as a supply instructor, planning and delivering personalised tuition to the students in their permanently excluded department. During my time here, I was able to advance my behaviour management skills while supporting these students through various circumstances surrounding their educational journeys.When The Hub moved to a new site, I became an Unqualified Teacher in their KS4 Long Stay department, teaching various subjects as required while also providing pastoral support, and quickly moving onto a fixed-term contract. I progressed into building curriculum for, planning, and delivering Music and ICT in the KS3/KS4 Long Stay, while also taking the then year 10 form group – whom I have since supported through their GCSE exams in their Year 11, and into their further education and training.During my time at the Hub, I have:• Broadened my skillset from FE teaching into KS3/4 levels across different subjects,• Taken part in CPD including Safeguarding, FGM, E-safety, Prevent, and Team Teach positive handling, • Been successful in building positive working relationships with students with varying levels of social, emotional and mental health needs. I have thoroughly enjoyed the challenge this role has provided, and I look forward to carrying my skills into a new environment, continuing to support students through their educational journey.

I started working as a part-time tutor at M.A.S.C. in May of 2011, initially taking on beginner drums, bass and guitar students, then progressing to more advanced players as my own skill, and theirs, developed. During my years here, I have honed and synthesised many practical and technical development methods, allowing me to study each student’s progression with their instrument and adapt these methods accordingly to suit many different age groups and learning styles. In 2011/12, I also took part in peripatetic work at both Keyingham and Hedon Primary schools, teaching guitar lessons weekly to groups of 3 – 11 students. This provided me with some insight into a more classroom-based teaching environment, as opposed to my usual one to one tuition, and allowed me to further develop my teaching skills and adapt my practical development methods into weekly lesson plans.
