Particularly the impacts of azo-stilbenes in the prevention of hyperpigmentation, mammalian melanogenesis & dopamine signaling- Measured dopamine signaling and levels on C. elegans through a SWIP assay- Synthesized Azo-stilbenes in labSpring- Synthesized Carbon dots with green chemistry principles using maleic acid, urea, and water.- Designed and conducted an experiment where the fluorescent carbon dots were ingested by drosophila through their food. The drosophila were then dissected and had any abnormalities noted to see the health impacts of carbon dots.- Presented findings from both semesters in a poster presentation to professors and faculty from both the chemistry and biology departments at the University of Miami.- Developed basic wet laboratory skills, academic paper writing skills, public speaking, and presenting skills.
