The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) is an independent quality and standards organisation, appointed as an external accreditation entity for the Psychology Profession in Australia under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009. APAC develops and reviews accreditation standards for psychology programs of study in Australia. We then work with education providers and use the accreditation standards to determine whether programs of study for students seeking to practice as a registered psychologist in Australia meet the required education standards.APAC accredits more than 700 programs of study at 41 higher education providers across Australia and Asia.

The Australian Dental Council (ADC) is the designated independent accreditation authority for the Australian dental professions.As Director, Accreditation was responsible for the ADC’s accreditation activities. This included the accreditation and monitoring of all dental programs in Australia and maintaining strong working relationships with government regulators, education providers and other interested stakeholders such as professional associations. As a member of the senior management team I wasalso responsible for the wider strategy and operations of the ADC including financial and risk management.

TEQSA is the Federal Government’s higher education regulator, formed in 2011, responsible for regulating all 170+ higher education providers in Australia, including its 40 universities. I was responsible for a team that manages the regulatory business with a wide range of higher education providers. Work included the registration and re-registration of providers and the accreditation of courses against a set of detailed standards. My role also included a significant stakeholder engagement element so that important relationships with regulated providers are proactively managed to ensure a shared understanding of the regulatory requirements.

Strategic Project Partners is a generalist management consulting firm working across the private, government and higher education sectors. Areas of work include strategy, performance improvement and major projects. I was responsible for managing a wide range of projects for clients within tight deadlines. This included managing stakeholder relationships, modelling, analysis and preparation and presentation of reports and recommendations to clients. Significant projects included:• The development and implementation of a business-wide transformation program for a major Australian charity• The development of a business case for a $60M biotech facility on behalf of a consortium of clients to present to Federal Government• The development and financial modelling for a business case to extend a high-profile scientific research project for a university client. Following presentation of the case, an additional $4M in funding was allocated to the project, which is ongoing• The development and presentation of training materials for the in-house strategy teams of a big four bank and a major logistics company

Common Purpose is an international leadership development company with forty offices in twelve countries and headquarters in the UK. It develops and delivers leadership development programs for the private and public sectors and does business with over seventy percent of FTSE100 companies in the UK.Responsible for Common Purpose’s business in Wales, management of a small team of staff, a budget of £430K, business development and leadership development program delivery.• Designed, developed and facilitated leadership development programs for senior executives and graduates in Wales – working with participants from companies such as Lloyds TSB, Deloitte, Sony and the Welsh Assembly Government• Responsible for generating all new business in Wales and for achieving budgets for all leadership development programs delivered• Developed strong working relationships with business leaders across Wales in order to more clearly understand their business needs and to identify opportunities for working together • Key achievement: Achieved KPIs for program quality and client satisfaction for leadership development programs delivered in Wales that were the strongest in the organisation.

Responsible for all BPS activities concerning standards of professional practice. Management of a team of 35 staff and a budget of £1 million.• Member of the Senior Management Team and advisor to the Board of Trustees, providing advice and input to BPS governance, strategy and policy across all areas• Led the BPS’s work to achieve statutory regulation of psychologists in the UK. This major project required me to liaise with UK ministers, civil servants, major employers such as the National Health Service, potential regulators and senior BPS members to develop proposals and models for regulation. It required the development of a comprehensive communications plan to inform and engage all stakeholders within the BPS. It also required the development of a significant change plan to account for the changes to BPS business that the implementation of regulation would bring. This included planning potential role changes, redundancies, restructuring, retraining and refocusing of some business areas.

IChemE is the international professional body for chemical engineers, supporting 25,000 members in 80 countries.• Member of the Senior Management Team, responsible for membership retention and key relationships with universities and employers• Worked with major corporate partners such as ExxonMobil and Unilever to help them develop and implement graduate training schemes• Key achievement: Managed the successful delivery of two major change projects. Firstly, a new membership database for eighty thousand organisation records and secondly a new membership structure that affected all twenty five thousand members. In both cases I was responsible for project planning, monitoring, internal and external communications and implementation issues such as staff retraining.
