Vibration Analyst/Electrical Engineering Technician

Kings Bay, Ga

I perform vibration measurements and analysis on overhauled and repaired rotating equipment at the motor shop and Rotating Machinery Lab (RML) including motors, pumps, fans, and generators for certification of meeting acceptance criteria as required by applicable Vibration Monitoring Manuals. I perform Dynamic Field Balancing of rotating equipment in accordance with SUBMEPP Maintenance Standards (MS) and applicable Vibration Monitoring Manuals for shipboard and TRIPER Assets. I consistently maintain and operate mulit-channel spectrum analyzers, FFT Data collectors, accelerometers, real-time analyzers, vibration transducers and other vibration data collection equipment. I create and maintain vibration databases on a daily basis for both spectral and broadband data collection using reliability based maintenance software (currently Master Trend) by integrating the software with my normal FFT Data Collector (currently CSI-2120). I work at a desk that I can use for communications between different organizations and companies to locate information and perform research of any faulty indications that I received from collecting data in the field.

Electrician

Kings Bay, Ga

Using the knowledge that I received as an active duty nuclear Electrician's Mate, I honed my skill in troubleshooting complex electrical circuits varying from generation to distribution systems. I measured velocity, horsepower, revolutions per minute (rpm), amperage, circuitry, and voltage of units or components to diagnose problems, using ammeters, voltmeters, wattmeters, and other testing devices. I maintained proper log recording practices by documenting hourly readings of equipment parameters during shutdown, start up, and trend plot analysis of faulty electrical motors, generators, pumps, fans, compressors, and other electrical machinery that were previously installed on an SSBN class US Naval submarine. I became experienced in the rebuild and repair of defective mechanical parts in electric motors, generators, and related equipment, using hand tools and power tools while maintaining proper stock of repair parts used and minimizing labor time. I was used as a knowledgeable tool to assist in the repair and modernization of the 60Hz and 400Hz distribution systems onboard a 726 class submarine, and is normally requested by electrical and mechanical engineers to offer assistance. I continuously improved the knowledge, processes, and implementation of troubleshooting procedures and tactics for two electrical repair shops at the Trident Refit Facility.

Nuclear Electrician'S Mate

Kings Bay, Ga; Portsmouth, Va

I supervised a division of 13 junior personnel during underway periods. I delivered over 50 division training lessons and over 20 engineering department training during tenure as an Electrical Division Leading Petty Officer (ELPO). I supervised and completed 4 ship alterations which included new metal fiber brush installations on one of the two Ship Service Motor Generators, circuit breaker hardware upgrade to over 60 circuit breakers, battery alteration from the A/N PDX-57 battery to the new SVRLA battery, and the installation of the Diesel Generator Casualty Control Panel. I quickly became knowledgeable in all current areas of the USN’s logistics support and maintenance management support programs: Sked 3.0, OMMS-NG, FEDLOG, ATIS, SNAP, SOMS. I developed numerous work packages and instructions that provided direction to perform electrical and engineering corrective and preventative maintenance procedures to military and non-military recipients. Before I became the ELPO on board the USS Tennessee, I was the 3M (Maintenance and Material Management system) coordinator for my division, which eventually lead to a collateral duty promotion into the Engineering Department 3M coordinator. With a nominal in-port electrical division of 18, I coordinated and participated in the completion of over 3500 preventive and corrective maintenance actions on a SSBN 726 class submarine during an arduous engineering and refueling overhaul over a span of 2 years. I flawlessly maintained all divisional maintenance requirements of six refits and an engineering and refueling overhaul by participating in many work control scheduling meetings, refining work practices, and implementing these procedural refinements to the best of the division’s capabilities. I periodically maintained all paperwork, data, and maintenance history of the Reactor and Secondary plant for the electrical division.
