Mr. Castek currently is the District Manager for ten Sports Authority Stores located in Southwest Florida. He is a seasoned Sales and Operations Management Executive with the unique ability to drive profits and streamline operations while fostering a “Team” culture within his district. During his tenure, his leadership and ability to think “out-of-the-box” has taken the district to unprecedented profitability. In a very difficult economic environment, all ten stores are above revenue and profit plan. Prior to Mike’s arrival to the organization, four stores were unprofitable and none met the revenue plan. Prior to his joining Sports Authority, Mr. Castek was the Store Manager for Best Buy’s Aventura store and drove revenue from $34 M in 2002 to $89 M in 2008 (5th largest revenue store in the United States). Much of the sales growth can be attributed to Mike’s ability to: understand the marketplace, accurately forecast customer and industry trends, provide outstanding levels of customer service and empower his associates. Mr. Castek came to Florida in 1986 ad began his business career in the Travel Industry. In 2000, he transitioned into retail and was a Customer Service Manager, Department Manager and eventually a Store Manager for Sports Authority. Most notable of his accomplishments at this time included: record setting sales increases, leading a store remodeling project and implementing a “total customer experience program”.
